Mark is a West Virginia native, with BA's in Psychology and Literature.  After college, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served in the Far East, Middle East, and Europe.  While in the Philippines, he encountered his first real paranormal encounter.  In an unused part of the hospital at Clark Air Base, he was accompanying a doctor through a hospital wing, and both he and the doctor saw a shadow figure in front of them that ducked into a side room.  When they went to investigate, they found no one there.  As they were leaving the room, they both heard a distinct voice say to them, "be careful, it is dark up here". Quite unnerved, they both left hastily and did not go back up to that wing of the hospital again. 

In the summer of 1986, Mark was taking the tour of the Provost Jail, in Charleston, SC.  He was in the basement, and after the tour had gone upstairs, he was leaning over a railing to get a view of the gun powder room.  As he straightened up to turn around, he bumped into someone behind him.  Knowing he was alone, he turned around, and there was absolutely no one there.  AT THAT MOMENT, he decided he was going to find out what was going on in the unseen world.
